Gastón Cedillo Campos
Gaston Cedillo is a French-Mexican Radcliffe Killam Distinguished Faculty at the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) (https://www.tamiu.edu/), an institution dedicated to achieving excellence in education within a vibrant multicultural environment. This school is committed to high-quality research and meaningful collaboration with business and government leaders to confront significant regional and global economic challenges.
Dr. Cedillo's leadership in the National Strategic Initiative in Logistics and Nearshoring at Tecnológico de Monterrey was genuinely inspiring. He pioneered a networked collective intelligence model using an interdisciplinary approach, setting a new standard in the field.
He also served as the Technical Director of the National Laboratory for Transportation and Logistics Systems (https://lab-nacional-logistica.imt.mx/), a project he designed and co-founded in 2014 alongside respected academics from institutions such as the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), the Technological Institute of Sonora (ITSON), and the Autonomous University of Yucatán. This transformative project received vital funding from the Mexican Institute of Transportation (IMT) and the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). It stands as a National Center of Excellence, showcasing Mexico's most prestigious transportation and logistics research laboratories, located at the IMT Research Campus in Querétaro, Mexico.
Dr. Cedillo passionately engages as a researcher and consultant, helping organizations in the logistics and transportation sector with business development, while focusing on designing innovative supply chain strategies that emphasize operational excellence. His remarkable contributions have earned him accolades in the academic community, fostering collaboration as a lecturer, researcher, and visiting professor in Mexico and worldwide. He has also played a significant role as a mentor, guiding and inspiring students at esteemed institutions such as Ecole des Mines Saint-Etienne (France), the Centre for Research on Transport and Logistics (France), Georgia Tech (Panama), the National University of Colombia, the Catholic University of Valparaíso (Chile), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Ibero-American University, and the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM).
In 2012, he garnered the National Logistics Award and the Technological Innovation Award from UANL. In 2019, he was celebrated with the InterTraffic Latin America Award for co-creating the First Real-Time Laboratory for Urban Logistics in Latin America (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0w9k88kdCg), which laid the foundation for the innovative “National Technical Guide: Design of Loading and Unloading Bays” (https://www.gob.mx/sedatu/documentos/guia-tecnica-diseno-de-bahias-de-carga-y-descarga?state=published). Dr. Cedillo exemplifies the power of innovation ecosystems in driving transformative change. As the Founding President of the Mexican Association of Logistics and Supply Chain (AML - https://www.aml.org.mx/en/), he has shown unwavering dedication to advancing the field. He established the First Supply Chain Research and Development Center (CiDeCS) at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara Campus, creating a hub for innovation. His vision led to the co-founding of the Querétaro Logistics Innovation Cluster (CiLQRO - https://www.clusterlogistico.org/index.php/cilqro-english). Additionally, collaborating with industry leaders to shape the future of logistics. In partnership with Texas A&M International University, he co-founded the Alliance of Logistics and Supply Chain Clusters of North America (ALCAN - https://www.tamiu.edu/binationalcenter/alcan.shtml).
Dr. Cedillo earned his PhD in Transportation and Logistics Systems from the University of Paris, France, in 2004, and further enriched his knowledge as a Visiting Research Fellow at the MIT-Zaragoza Logistics Center in 2010. As Mexico's representative at the World Conference on Transport Research Society (WCTRS - https://wctrs-society.com/member/miguel-gaston-cedillo-campos/), and Chair of the Scientific Committee for the International Congress on Logistics and Supply Chain (CiLOG) (https://cilog.aml.org.mx/), he inspires others in the transportation and logistics community throughout Latin America.
Frequently sought after by government agencies and leading companies, Dr. Cedillo embodies entrepreneurial spirit, having co-founded three technology-based organizations. His role in these organizations involved identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and leading teams to create innovative solutions. With over 50 impactful scientific publications in top journals, including Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review and Computers and Industrial Engineering, he continues to illuminate the path forward for future innovators.
